Hurst Castle and Spit

Hurst Castle (English Heritage) is Victorian Fort at the end of an easy walk along a 1 mile long spit out into the Solent (the channel between the Isle of White and the mainland).

The walk out and back is lovely, you can clamber around the fort (great for kids).

Just have a picnic at the end by the small lighthouse, or visit the fort (£3.50 adults). Lots to explore and clamber around for kids, and a small tea room.
