Abbotsbury and Chesil Beach

Abbotsbury is a small village on the Dorset coast. It has amazing sub-tropical gardens, which are highly recommended, and  a swannery.

The South West Coastal Path runs nearby. This part of the Dorset coast is untouristed, and very pretty.

Inland is the Hardy (as in Nelson) Monument, on a nice inland ridge walk that was the former route of the SWCP. If you follow the SWCP, there is a regular tourist bus service along this stretch of coast to return to your car.

Chesil Beach (a long spit, with an inland lagoon behind it) is great to visit, especially at sunset, but not good for walking on due to the miles of shingle.
